Giving first aid is easy. Anyone can save a life!
- Every year, more than 60,000 people in Germany suffer a cardiac arrest outside hospital. Only 11 percent of those affected survive.
- The brain begins to die within just 3-5 minutes of its blood supply being cut off. This is an important time in which you could save a life by immediately beginning cardiac massage while waiting for the emergency services to arrive.
- Unfortunately, there are still far too few bystanders who have the confidence to help: only in 51 percent of cases are resuscitation procedures begun by lay first-aiders.
- Resuscitation can double or even treble the chances of survival after a cardiac arrest.
